Restaurant.com project

Restaurant.com is a web-based ecommerce site that sells discounted gift certificates to local restaurants and we are doing a project with them. We will act as affiliates and drive traffic to their site. A portion of the proceeds will be then donated to charity. Restaurant.com uses most of the media channels we have talked about in class in driving traffic to its site.

In the project we ask you to plan, implement and measure the results of two media channels. What types of media channels are most effective today? We will see next week that companies are working to integrate information across channels so marketers can measure more effectively.

We feel that social media is one of the most effective ways to promote a business. Social networking has become part of every day life and its popularity is something that companies should take advantage of. Linda Ramsey gave our class a good insight of Restaurant.com and we feel we can help drive sales to the site-- especially through social media.

With the continued growth of social media, we feel that it will be a very effective media channel. We also feel that Search Engine Marketing can be very helpful during the project to help drive traffic to the page.

Our team feels this will be one of the most beneficial experiences for us here at NIU. Getting the opportunity to work with a real company an implement real Interactive Marketing strategies is something unique to our program at NIU. Interactive Marketing strategies are the new standard for addressing customers and keeping them engaged with brands. Working with these methods first hand will give us NIU students a great advantage over other college grads.
